Facebook announced Monday it would be building a second phase to its data center under construction in Altoona.

The company says its planning a 468,000 square foot building to compliment the one already under construction.

Construction and assembly work continues inside a data hall at Facebook's Altoona, Iowa, data center.

The company has to get the necessary approval from city officials in Altoona before breaking ground on the second phase of the project.  That process begins this week

The second phase will be roughly the same size of the one now being built on the property north of Interstate 80 and just north of the Bass Pro Shops location.
