A national bus tour is stopping in Iowa to promote the need for increasing the minimum wage to ten dollars and 10 cents an hour.

Jeremy Funk of Americans United for Change says ther stops at the state capitol in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids Friday are efforts to drum up support and to try to convince Republican Senator Charles Grassley and Congressman Steve King to support the increase.

The minimum was raised to $7.25 an hour in 2009 and Funk says at about $15,000 a year, there's no way a person can make a living on that amount.

Funk says public opinion favors and increase and they are using the tour to try to convince Republican lawmakers to back the increase.
