Iowa Senator Tom Harkin has announced what is being dubbed as a Footsteps Through History tour of the state.
It's to start on May 1st in Shelby County.
Harkin's office says it was in 1976 when the senator was then a congressman that he worked to cut through some red tape to allow the community of Elk Horn to obtain a Danish Windmill.
It was dismantled piece by piece and shipped to the U.S. but a snag regarding the import duty allowed the shipment to sit on a dock in New York for a month.
Residents of Elk Horn ponied up the $2,000 but Harkin's office says that money was eventually returned
Below are pictures of from the time. More events will be released later.
This is kind of like a farewell tour for the senator who announced last year he would not seek re-election.
