The Des Moines Police Department is hosting the third annual 5k Fun Run/Walk (Run with the Police) presented by Voya Financial and benefiting Special Olympics Iowa (SOIA) in downtown Des Moines on Saturday, May 20. 

 

Runners and walkers of all levels are welcome to participate in the timed race. Run with the Police benefits SOIA and participants are encouraged to collect donations above and beyond the registration fee. All donations raised will go directly to SOIA and help support approximately 14,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and their Unified Partners that participate in Special Olympics events year-round. Last year’s Run with the Police event raised over $18,000.

 

The event starts at 9 a.m. at the 100 Block of East Court Avenue, next to the Des Moines Police station. This year participants can register their dog day of to be a member of the Junior K-9 Unit and receive a bandana!  

 

Registration Details:

Early Registration Fee (Now up until May 6): $25 min. per adult - $15 min. per child (10 years old and younger)

 

Late Registration Fee (May 7-May 19): $35 minimum per adult - $15 min. per child (10 years old and younger)

 

Day of Registration Fee: $45 minimum per adult - $15 min. per child (10 years old and younger)

Online Registration will be closing Wednesday, May 17th at noon
