Update From Jackson Fisher - Our Pinky Swear Young Man With Brain Cancer

Meet Jackson!  Jackson is the young man with brain cancer that you may have first met on Van and Bonnie during the Pinky Swear fundraising event we held last December.  Jackson had been in remission but had to be readmitted to Mayo Clinic a few months ago because the brain cancer had returned. Thank you to so many of you who sent birthday cards to him when he celebrated his 16th birthday in the hospital in Rochester!  Jackson will be at the Pinky Swear 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run that will be held this Sunday at Principal Park.  Registration is at 8AM, the 5K starts at 9AM and the 1 Mile Fun Run at 10AM. There will be food from Hy-Vee, face painting and so much more!  By the way, Jackson says to feel free to donate to his team at www.pinkyswear.org.  His team is J Fisher.  Also pictured above is Mary Mendenhall-Core of Pinky Swear.  Hear the entire interview below.

Jordyn Meryl, an Iowa Author, joined us in the studio just after the 7:30 news.  The Iowa Author Fest is coming this weekend, September 23rd, at the Jasper Winery from 11:30AM-5PM at 2400 George Flagg Parkway.  Ghostbusters will be making a special appearance, as well as musicians, food and face painting. Van will also be doing a book signing at the Fest.  For more information, go to www.iowaauthorfest.com.

Tomorrow on Van and Bonnie, we will be broadcasting live from the Hubbell Realty Extreme Build of the new Ronald McDonald House!  Hubbell has 100 plus trade partners donating time, manpower and materials.  The grand opening and ribbon cutting is slated for September 25th.  Tune in and we'll be painting a picture for you!

Stay safe in the fog!

Bonnie
