Facebook's decision to purchase WhatsApp for more than Facebook's entire current net worth baffles me. They've basically told shareholders that the only thing that matters is a large user base -- to heck with profits.
Meanwhile, it's growing hard to find people who can keep their heads screwed on straight and not go buggy for what's "cool" rather than what's going to be around for the long haul. That short-term-ism is going to hurt us a lot down the road.
