The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $.35 per barrel over last week, closing at $97.37.
Brent crude oil fell $.76, currently at $104.09.
One year ago WTI crude sold for $106.83 and Brent crude was at $110.69.
As of Tuesday, August 12th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.37 across Iowa according to AAA. This is the same price as last week and down $.11 from one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $3.47, down a penny from last week’s price.
Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa held steady on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $3.70. One year ago diesel prices averaged $3.79 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel average is $.13 per gallon lower than the national average of $3.83.
Wholesale ethanol prices rose $.10 this week, closing at $2.07. The price of Mid-Grade Blend in Iowa (10% ethanol) closed at $3.33 per gallon, down a penny from last week’s price and $0.05 lower than one year ago.
Natural Gas prices were up $.07 from last week’s report, ending the week at $3.92 / MMbtu.
