DES MOINES – Propane prices fell $.19 compared to last month’s price, closing the week at $1.69 per gallon.

 

Crude Oil Summary

The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $.38 per barrel over last week, currently at $103.76.

 

Brent crude oil rose $1.75 this week, currently at $109.63.

 

One year ago WTI crude sold for $88.72 and Brent crude was at $97.88.

 

Motor Fuels

As of Tuesday, April 15th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.61 across Iowa according to AAA.  This is up $.02 from last week and up $.15 from one year ago.  The national average on Tuesday was $3.65, up $.05 from last week’s price. 

 

Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa held steady on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $3.81.   One year ago diesel prices averaged $3.85 in Iowa.   The current Iowa diesel average is $.15 per gallon lower than the national average of $3.96.

 

Wholesale ethanol prices fell a penny this week, closing at $2.78. The price of Mid-Grade Blend in Iowa (10% ethanol) closed at $3.52 per gallon, up $.03 from last week’s price and up $.15 from one year ago.

 

Heating Fuels

Propane prices fell $.19 compared to last month’s price with a statewide average of $1.69 per gallon.  Home heating oil rose $.02 from last month’s figures, ending with a statewide average of $3.49.  Natural Gas prices in Iowa were up $.04 from last week’s report, ending the week at $4.57 / MMbtu.
