What a great group of WHO Radio listeners trying to win the title of "Best Homemade Ice Cream in Iowa" at The Wildwood Lodge this morning! Rex Raasch's Black Raspberry with Dark Chocolate Chunks just edged out Carson Hoffman's Peanut Butter and Jelly Ice Cream to win an overnight stay at The Wildwood Lodge and dinner for two at the Iowa Machine Shed Restaurant. Honorable mentions go to all the rest...Fruit Ice Cream (Lemon, Orange and Banana), Earl's Breakfast (English Tea), Vanilla-Wildberry (Vanilla Bean, Strawberries & Raspberries), Doug's Recipe (Creamy Vanilla), Cookies & Cream, Chocolate Coconut, Strawberry Jalapeno, Pineapple and Summer Vanilla. Several, if not all, of our contestants will be e-mailing me their recipes and I will put those on the blog page as well as on the recipe page once I get them. All of the judges had a hard time...they were all so good and we are all sooooo full!
Thank you to Tom Foster of "I Scream" for serving homemade ice cream to all of our listeners this morning. Should you have an event you need homemade ice cream for 300 or more, you can reach Tom at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you to Jeremy with Arctic Glacier Permium Ice for providing the ice for freezing all the ice cream this morning! And of course thank you to The Wildwood Lodge and The Machine Shed Restaurant for providing our venue and the winning prizes!
Please join us tomorrow morning at the Blank Park Zoo for their huge Butterfly Festival and see all the new babies at the zoo. If you haven't been for awhile, there's been a lot of major changes you'll love seeing! We'll be there from 9AM til noon. The Festival runs from 10AM-2PM.
Have a great weekend!
