Terry Hernandez of Chrysalis was our special guest just after the 8:30 news  Chrysalis is bringing in one of Oprah Winfrey's all-time favorite guests....Dr. Terarai Trent.  Dr. Trent was born in a remote village in Zimbabwe.  She was married off at the age of 11 and had three children by the age of 18.  But her dream was to come to the United States, get an education, and be able to help the girls and women of Africa.  She has received her PhD and now trains global leaders, universities and international organizations on research and analysis, diversity and program evaluation.  She will be speaking at the Chrysalis event on Thursday, September 11th, 11:30AM to 1PM, in the Grand Ballroom at the Iowa Events Center.  To get tickets, to go www.chrysalisfdm.org or call 515-255-1853.  Her new book, "The Girl Who Buried Her Dreams in a Can" will be released this year.  Her story is quite amazing!   If you have friends who you think would be interested in hearing Dr. Trent speak, please "like" us on Facebook and share with your friends!

Welcome back to Van!  He hasn't been back in the WHO Radio studio since before the Iowa State Fair.  He even thought he had a new chair (he doesn't!)

Today is National Dog Day and also Women's Equality Day.  It was on this date in history that Congress passed the 19th amendment to the consititution giving women the right to vote in 1920.

Have a great day!

Bonnie
