Our special guest this morning was Daphne Haselhuhn of the American Diebetes Association. Coming up September 20th is their Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes at Principal Park. They are bringing in this huge truck with a TV screen that folds out of the side so walkers can watch the Iowa football game while they walk! Should the Iowa game be a late start, they will show another college football game. Registration for the walk starts at 9AM, the 5K and 1 mile walk begins at 10AM. There will be a Zumba warm-up before the walk and a healthy tailgate party from Hy-Vee following the walk. There will also be a Health Fair and Kid's Zone going on from 9AM-1PM. This event will go on rain or shine. All the money raised stays right here in Iowa. For more information or to register, go to www.diabetes.org/stepoutdsm or call Daphne at 515-276-2237, ext. 6865.
I just found out that Janice Stillman of the Farmer's Almanac is going to be in town on September 17th and she'll be stopping in to be on with us right after the 8AM news. So mark your calendar to see what she'll have to say about what kind of weather is coming to Iowa for the coming year.
Tomorrow on Van & Bonnie, we'll be talking with Darin Hirl and Tara Deering-Hansen of Hy-Vee about the Hy-Vee Triathlon happening in downtown Des Moines this weekend. Find out where to park and where to be for the best views of the competition.
Enjoy your day!
