Thank you to all of you Van & Bonnie listeners for signing up to help build the Habitat For Humanity Home on Logan Street here in Des Moines.  Thank you to Hy-Vee who had all 20 of their greater Des Moines area Store Directors not only helping build this morning, but providing food for all the volunteers all day long!  Thank you to Johnston Ace Hardware for providing all the door hardware, etc. for the home!  Thank you to the Downtown Des Moines Partnership for volunteering hundreds of their interns to build and to New Leaf Wellness who also had employees volunteering today!  Patrice Mauer and Sarah Lichter of Habitat For Humanity were so helpful in getting the whole project set up.

Lance Henning, President and CEO of Greater Des Moines Habitat For Humanity joined us several times during the broadcast.  Lance wanted to remind people that the recipients of Habitat homes go thru a strenuous educational program that includes finances as well as home maintenance.  They also put in 400 hours of sweat equity in the they pay for the home when finished.  Be sure to check out the Habitat ReStore located at I-235 &'ll find both new and previously owned items there.  If you're a do-it-yourselfer, you'll love this store!

If you would like to donate items, volunteer to work, etc., go to

Tomorrow on Van and Bonnie, we'll be talking with John Drummond with the Good Guys Car Show coming up this weekend at the Iowa State Fairgrounds!
