Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig joined today's Big Show with the official announcement that he has submitted nomination papers. This places him in the Republican primary for the Iowa Secretary of Agriculture position after receiving support from over 90 counties with a total of 3,500 signatures.
"I've just had a great opportunity over the last four and a half years as Deputy Secretary to travel the state, to work alongside somebody I have a tremendous amount of respect for, Bill Northey," said Naig. "To really see what the Department of Ag can do, what a secretary can do, and that has really created this passion to jump into this and of course, now to have the opportunity to have recently been appointed by the governor to complete this current term. I'm now getting the real feel of what it's like to shoulder the responsibility of secretary."
The primary is this summer on June 5.
