Iowa halts sales of "Viagra for the Brain"

(DES MOINES, Iowa)  The Iowa Attorney General's Office is announcing settlements against six companies and individuals associated with a dietary supplement maker that claims it's product increases brain power and reverses cognitive decline associated with aging.

Attorney General Tom Miller says 183 Iowans were taken for 23-thousand dollars, buying a product called intellux.

Miller says the company had a network of hundreds of individual marketers, all over the world.   He says an 18-month investigation found claims falsely attributed to legitimate news outlets.   Miller says the Iowans who sent in hundreds of dollars, will get their money back.

The Iowa Attorney General's Office served 22 subpoenas to track down marketers, many of whom operated in Russia, Ukraine, Pakistan, Canada, and elsewhere.

Miller says in one case, a Minnesota marketer claimed the product could be used for attention deficit disorder.  He says another marketer advertised the product as "Viagra for the brain."

The businesses involved in the case include:   JGG Enterprises, Inc of Las Vegas, NV, Convert2Media, LLC, in Ocoee, Florida, and Top Source Media, LLC, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mass Marketing, LLC, of Wilmington, Delaware, and Garrett Blaskco and Jesse Reinle of San Diego, California.
