Northern Iowa's too wet, and a large part of southern Iowa's too dry. The latest U-S Drought Monitor shows about 20-counties in south central and southeast Iowa either abnormally dry or in moderate drought.
Madison, Warren, and Marion counties, (south of Des Moines) are included in the dry-patch. Far southeast Polk County is also abnormally dry. In northern Iowa, rapidly melting snow is raising the flood risk in the Des Moines and Cedar River basins.
Minor flooding is expected along the Winnebago River, the Rock River, the Ocheyedan, and the Little Sioux Rivers in northwest Iowa.
Flood warnings are posted for the West Fork of the Des Moines River at Estherville, and the Cedar River at Cedar Falls.
