Iowa Primary UPDATE: Text messages with wrong info were campaign mistake

UPDATE:  12:01 p.m.  Those text messages that were reported earlier this morning that gave voters wrong information on where and when to vote, saying tomorrow is election day, and giving wrong addresses were a mistake.

Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate now says in a Tweet from his office that a candidate's campaign sent out the text messages erroneously.

DES MOINES, Iowa  —  Someone is sending false information to Iowans via text message and the Secretary of State’s office is investigating.

Paul Pate’s office says it’s received reports from four counties of voters receiving text messages pointing them to incorrect polling places.  The text messages use the phrase “Tomorrow is the Democratic Primary”, according to Pate’s office.

The Iowa Secretary of State’s office has a simple online tool for checking your polling place based on your address.
