As strong storms hit west central Iowa about 7:25pm, lightning also hit a vehicle traveling on interstate 80.
It happened about two miles east of Dexter. The National Weather Service reports that the lightning hit the vehicle around exit 100 of I-80.
Officials say the vehicle was heavily damaged but none of the passengers inside were injured.
