Last week, about 60 of the 170 hogs inside a semi trailer died when the semi overturned on Interstate 35 near the eastbound I-80 ramp.
Now People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) says they plan to put a billboard near that site to "honor" the hogs that died.
The billboard (pictured above) says "I'm ME, Not MEAT. See the Individual. Go Vegan."
PETA officials say the goal is to convince Iowans to end the suffering of the hogs by encouraging people not to eat meat.
