LOOK: Storms devastate Illinois corn field

One word...ugh.  Yuck would work also.  Sent in to us on the DuPont Pioneer A-Series Soybean Text Line from Bureau County, Illinois as a storm came through and did great damage to this grower's livlihood:

Now, teachable moment here for our friends wondering how their food is produced.  It appears that corn was blown over instead of snapped off so it will, by and large, stand back up.  Agronomists say that corn blown over before tassle will grow back much straighter than corn blown over after tassle - in that case the stalks near the ground would be curved, looking similiar to the neck of a goose.  As far as the impact on yield, it's too soon to know.
