Report: "Medicare For All" Would Cost $32.6 Trillion

Nationalized health care has not achieved majority support among voters, but Senator Bernie Sanders -  after making it a mainstay of his presidential campaign -  says support for it is growing.  He calls it "Medicare For All" and although he is the face of it, other Democratic 2020 hopefuls have also endorsed the idea, which would require all U.S. residents be covered with no copays and deductibles for medical services.

The lack of majority support is due to the fact that most workers get their insurance through their employer and they are satisfied with their plan.  "Medicare For All" destroys the private market.

Here's another reason taxpayers should be concerned:  a new study indicates that the plan would increase government health care spending by $32.6 trillion dollars over the next ten years.

How would we pay for it?  Literally, there have been some pundits on Twitter that have opined that "we'll find it."  But note this:  the study estimated that doubling all federal individual and corporate income taxes would not fully cover the additional costs.

I believe that nationalized health care will never enjoy majority support because it would require so many Americans to give up plans they support for a plan that would cost more and ultimately mean less choice.  Higher costs and less choice?  Doesn't sound like a popular bumper sticker slogan to me.
