Two Iowa State students charged in connection with gun scare

AMES, Iowa - Two Iowa State students have been charged in connection with the gun scare on campus last week, one of them is among four ISU students suspended from school Friday for poor behavior.

Police say 18-year-old Dallas Taylor-Cortez, a Cyclone football player is charged with Harassment.  He was suspended along with three other football players Friday for undisclosed poor behavior.  Now police say, he is charged in connection with the gun scare.  Before the charge was brought, police and ISU would not connect the suspensions of the football players with the gun scare.

19-year-old Tyciera Whitaker-Wells, an ISU student, is also being charged with filing a false report to police.Whitaker-Wells was not one of the four students suspended.

Police got reports of men with guns on campus Thursday night just before 10:00.

Callers said the men had a rifle and a handgun. Officers say they found the men and the guns turned out to be BB guns.  

Police say more charges in the case may be coming as they continue to investigate.
