DES MOINES, Iowa – A man convicted of murdering an innocent woman during a rolling gun battle in Des Moines has escaped from prison.
The Iowa Department of Corrections says 39-year-old Vincent Cortez Brown turned up missing from the Fort Des Moines Work Release Center.
Brown and another man were shooting at each other as they drove their cars down the street, when Phyllis Davis drove between the two cars, and was shot and killed.
Brown is 5’10” and weighs around 223 pounds.
He was admitted to the work release facility on August 23, 2018. Persons with information on Brown's whereabouts should contact local police.
