DES MOINES, Iowa- The Iowa Department of Human Services is warning about a scam, targeting Food Assistance recipients, who use the electronic benefit transfer (E-B-T) system.
Officials say there have been reports of recipients getting a text message, stating their EBT funds are expiring and they need to make a deposit.
There's also a link to apply for benefits and to offer personal information. The DHS says it's a scam, recipients should not click on the link or provide any personal information.Iowa does not use mobile messaging to share information with EBT recipients.
