Winter Storm Watch Southern, Central, Eastern Iowa Sunday

DES MOINES, Iowa - If you're planning to drive on Sunday, you might want to reconsider as a snow storm is headed for the southern half of Iowa, and much of Central and Eastern Iowa.  

We're expecting a little of everything a winter storm can bring.

"Probably a wet, heavy snow initially, so really sticky to begin with.  Then colder air will be moving in, so becoming a fluffier snow."  National Weather Service Meterologist Rod Donavon tells WHO Radio News.

"Another problems will be the significant winds.  Northerly winds 20-30 miles an hour, with gusting to over 40 at times.  So we could see significant blowing and drifting snow."  Donavon said.

How much snow are we talking here?

"Six to eight inches across Southeast Iowa.  Two to five inches in the Des Moines metro region, into East Central Iowa, including Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and as far east as Davenport .
