DES MOINES, Iowa - Snow Emergencies are in effect in most cities in the Des Moines metro area.
In the City of Des Moines city-wide snow plowing is underway with no parking on city streets. In only five specific neighborhoods signs are posted that allow even-odd parking, the rest of the city is no parking during snow emergencies.
Des Moines police tell WHO Radio News they issued over 200 snow ordinance parking violation citations overnight through 8:00 a.m. Saturday. There were 33 crashes and 9 hit and runs overnight Friday to Saturday morning at 8:00. ]
We expect many more when we get the final totals.
Snow parking bans are also posted by many area cities, including Altoona, Clive, Johnston, Indianola, Waukee, West Des Moines, and Urbandale all that enforce no parking on city streets.
