DES MOINES, Iowa - The newest snow prediction map from the National Weather Service shows more widespread snow than originally expected.
3-4 inches is now predicted in Central Iowa for Des Moines and Ames, up through Fort Dodge and Algona.
In Northern and Northeastern Iowa 2-3 inches at Mason City and to the northeast at Decorah.
In Eastern Iowa 3-4 inches at Waterloo, Marshalltown, Cedar Rapids, and Davenport.
In Souhtern Iowa 3-4 inches at Osceola. Lamoni, and Ottumwa 3-4 inches.
In Western Iowa, Atlantic and Council Bluffs/ Omaha 3-4 inches.
The heaviest snow is predicted for farthest Northwestern Iowa and Southeastern Iowa at 4-6 inches.
Meteorologists say the biggest difference between the snow this weekend and last weekend is the snow will be drier and the wind will be stronger, so the snow will blow and drift.
Temperatures are expected to be very cold.
