DES MOINES, Iowa - Des Moines police say a man was arrested for assaulting his pregnant girlfriend and trapping her in the bathroom of their southside home.
Police say the girlfriend managed to escape the home, but 27-year-old Mathew Levine caught up with her and threw her cell phone as she tried to call 9-1-1.
The woman got the phone back and locked herself in her car before calling police.
Investigators arrived at the home in the 11-hundred block of Rose Avenue around 9 pm Thursday night and found Levine nearby.
WHO Channel 13 reports Levine is now charged with domestic abuse/assault, false imprisonment, and obstruction of emergency communications.
