Clear Creek Amana Community School District received a $2,500 grant for a new FFA chapter. The grant is provided through Farm Credit Services of America’s (FCSAmerica) Working Here Fund.
FCSAmerica awarded a Working Here Fund grant to the Clear Creek Amana Community School District to help fund the start up of a new FFA Chapter. The FFA chapter will consist of students from Amana, Oxford, Tiffin, North Liberty and rural Iowa and Johnson counties. A new FFA requires many expenses including jackets, scarves, banners, a flag, as well as other annual expenses.
“By providing a highly active and progressive FFA chapter at the high school, the students will be equipped with the leadership and communication skills needed to stay current and competitive in the job market,” said Alyssa Amelon from the Clear Creek Amana Community School district.
Once the FFA chapter is set up, students will have learning opportunities outside of the classroom throughout the community. Students will be connected with adults in the community that are involved in careers fields the students are interested in learning more about.
“As members of the agricultural communities we serve, we actively demonstrate our commitment with contributions that serve the rural life we value so highly,” said Marty Hoefer, vice president of retail operations at FCSAmerica’s Cedar Rapids office.
Clear Creek Amana Community School District is one of 10 organizations to receive an expanded Working Here Fund grant. FCSAmerica awarded each organization up to $10,000 for a total of $59,500 to support projects focused on agricultural education, hunger and nutrition, young and beginning producers or essential services and rural disaster relief.
