I hope your considering going to Rome with Boo and me this September. It's my first trip with WHO listeners. More details below - but first, a public service announcement: be aware of Italy's newly established "flip flop fine!"
Tourists hiking in an Italian national park may face fines if they choose to wear flip-flops. Officials for Cinque Terre national park announced that those caught hiking in "unsuitable footwear" could be fined from 56-dollars to nearly three-thousand dollars.
Why the tough stance on footwear? It’s in response to rescue teams being overwhelmed by recent calls from park visitors wearing inadequate shoes. A rescue helicopter pilot says many holiday tourists injure themselves due to a lack of experience or equipment for the hike.
There won't be any hiking on my "Treasures Of Rome" tour but you will want to wear comfortable shoes because we are going to see ALL the sites you'd expect on a memorable trip to Rome. That's why we are taking our time: the trip runs from September 4-11. Not only will we get to spend significant time at the colosseum and the Vatican, but we'll take day trips to Florence and Pompeii, as well.
