University Of Iowa Study: How To Boost YOUR Mood In 12 Minutes!

Listeners always tell me that they can tell by the sound of my voice that I LOVE my job. They appreciate the energy and enthusiasm that I bring to the air. If my wife is with me when I hear these compliments, she'll tell the listener: "he rolls out of bed that way."

Now, the University of Iowa has released a study that says YOU can boost in your mood in 12 minutes. The key: being happy starts with your thoughts.

That MIGHT seem obvious to some folks, but other folks believe self-care is simply a matter of physical activity. The U of Iowa study says add "state of mind" to your arsenal of self-care.

For example, take a 12 minute walk and observe loving-kindness of others or interconnectedness to others.

The study showed those two lines of thought worked wonders, but that the line of thought around thinking you’re better than others didn’t do a dang thing for and actually worsened our moods.

The loving-kindness approach is the one to use as it’s the biggest producer of happiness. The scientists, by the way, warn that social media could make thinking you’re better than someone else more magnified in your life. That will suck the happiness out of it!

I think this study is important in that I view MUCH of social media as people proclaiming their moral or intellectually superiority to others. If you think THAT'S the route to happiness, you are on a road to nowhere.
