STORY COUNTY, Iowa - The Iowa State Patrol says a woman is dead after a crash in Story County.
Police say 63-year-old Gayle Lawton was killed Monday after entering traffic on Highway 30, east of Ames. Officials say her car was hit by a westbound car driven by 44-year-old Amanda Wierson.
Lawton was taken to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, where she died.
Wierson also went to the hospital with unknown injuries.
WHO Channel 13 reports the accident is still under investigation.
