DES MOINES, Iowa - The heat and humidity will continue today, with temperatures rising from morning lows only in the 70s to reach the 90s by this afternoon.
Heat index values will approach 105 degrees across much of Western Nebraska, through Iowa, and into Western Illinois, and heat advisories are in effect in much of the area.

Tonight the best chances will be across far northern and eastern Iowa and into Western Illinois, with large hail and damaging winds the primary threats. Locally heavy rainfall will also be possible.
