The shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in California has prompted a nationwide talk about security at large festivals. I'm talking to Des Moines Police Sgt. Paul Parizek about that today amidst word that security will be increased at one famous music festival this week.
Security is a top priority at Chicago's Lollapalooza this week following the deadly shooting at the garlic festival in California. Mayor Lori Lightfoot says she is confident a robust security plan is in place to protect those who attend the annual music festival in Grant Park.
The plan includes fencing around the park, hundreds of cameras and private security guards and a large number of uniformed and undercover police officers patrolling the park and surrounding neighborhoods. Federal resources have also been requested.
About two million people will be attending the event.
Lollapalooza starts Thursday and runs through Sunday. The headliners are Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, and The Chainsmokers.
