DES MOINES, Iowa - At a cost of about $25 million dollars, the Des Moines Public School District continues work on close to 40 different projects this summer.
A renovation project at Studebaker Elementary School comes with a price tag of $4 million dollars, the largest project going.
Studebaker is getting a stand-alone gym and more classrooms. Work on the elementary school is not expected to be completed before school starts, although the new classrooms will be ready.
Hoover High School and Meredith Middle School are getting new roofs at an estimated cost of $2 million dollars, but WHO-TV 13 reports those projects are being paid for with insurance money.
The first day of school for the Des Moines Public School District is August 23rd.
