Man arrested after stabbing near Cedar Rapids hospital

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa- Police say a man's facing multiple charges after a stabbing near Unity-Point Health-St Luke's Hospital, at 1026 A Avenue NE, in Cedar Rapids. Police were called to a parking ramp west of the hospital just after Noon, and arrested 25-year old Amstrong Mento Massamba after a foot chase.

Police say Massamba was involved in disturbance with a 24-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman at the parking garage, and is accused of stabbing the man multiple times. Police say victim walked to the ER, was treated and released for non-life-threatening stab wounds.

Authorities say the victim was stabbed when he tried to intervene in a disturbance between Massamba and the 24-year-old woman. Police say they believe all three knew each other.

Massamba has been arrested for Stalking While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, Assault with Intent to Inflict Serious Injury, and Going Armed with Intent.
