DES MOINES, Iowa - Good news if you’re driving over the Labor Day holiday, gas prices are down.
The national average prices for a gallon of regular unleaded is 12-cents per gallon less than last month, and 29-cents less than a year ago. The national average is running $2.58 per gallon this morning.
Iowa's less than that, with an average price of $2.42 per gallon. Prices vary across Iowa. In the center of the state, in Des Moines the average price is running $2.46.
To the east, in Davenport a gallon is $2.39. To the west, in Council Bluffs, $2.37.
