DES MOINES, Iowa - Storms with heavy rain are likely from Tuesday into Wednesday across much of Iowa, and into Nebraska and Kansas to the west; Southeastern Minnesota to the north; and Illinois, and Wisconsin to the east.
Flash Flooding is a risk, with nearly all of Iowa, Western Nebraska and Northern Kansas, and Southeastern Wisconsin under a Flash Flood watch into Wednesday. The Des Moines/Ames and Omaha/Council Bluffs metro areas are included in the Flash Flood Watch; as are Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, Iowa; and to the east Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The National Weather Service says the threat for flash flooding will increase today into tonight across the region.
Considerable runoff will result in a growing concern for more widespread river flooding from Wednesday into the weekend.
