False Call Of Intruders And Shots Fired In Pottawattamie County

TREYNOR, Iowa - Pottawattamie County Sheriff's deputies were called to a home on Heesch Avenue in Treynor, Iowa Tuesday morning after they received a report of shots fired.

The caller to 911 stated that four people had broken into the house and that the caller had shot two of the intruders. The caller then stated that a fire was started to keep the other two away.

Deputies arrived about eight minutes later and saw smoke coming from an attached garage. Deputies opened the overhead door and the caller escaped and was treated for smoke inhalation.

Three family members were inside the home when the call was made to 911. The family members stated they did not see or hear anyone in the house or the garage. After the fire was under control, nothing inside supported the caller's statement that anyone had been shot.

The investigation indicates that the caller had suffered a mental health episode. Deputies are not looking for suspects and add there is no threat to the public.
