First Day of Winter Walk
Join a ranger at the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, December 21, at 1:00 p.m., for a brisk walk along the 1/2 mile Overlook Trail to discover the beauty of the tallgrass prairie in winter. Observe and learn about the ways prairie plants and wildlife survive the harsh winter months. After the walk, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and cookies and, if interested, give back to the prairie by cleaning prairie seeds to prepare them for spring planting.
