DES MOINES, Iowa - The Polk County supervisors approved a 3-percent raise for elected officials on Tuesday night.
Elected officials have received a raise every year for the last five years. This year the raise will cost taxpayers an additional $41-thousand-dollars.
The compensation board originally proposed a 4.5 percent raise, which was amended by one supervisor down to 3 percent. The vote passed 3 to 2.
A comparison prepared by the county shows Polk County Supervisor salaries exceed those of their peers in six other like-sized counties.
