ADAIR COUNTY, Iowa- A Winterset man was killed in a pick-up vs semi crash just after 6:30 this (Thursday) morning in Adair County, southwest of Des Moines.
The Iowa State Patrol says 47-year-old Darrell Smith was driving west on highway 92, near Pinewood Avenue, east of Greenfield when his pick-up went into the eastbound lane, and hit a semi head-on.
The Patrol says the pick-up spun around into the westbound lane, and the semi jackknifed, and came to rest in a ditch.
Smith died in the crash. The driver of the semi, 44-year-old Jeremy Houck of Corning was flown to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines with serious injuries.
