DES MOINES, Iowa - Des Moines Police have arrested three teenagers for a series of robberies that took place after in-person meetings were arranged online through social media.
A string of robberies was reported between February 7th and February 13th. Police investigators were able to connect the robberies together through similarities and identify suspects.
Officers obtained search warrants and collected evidence at two Des Moines residences on Friday. Police say three suspects were then arrested at a local high school.
Two 16-year-old boys and a 17-year-old boy, all from Des Moines, have been arrested for the robberies.
Des Moines Police are now urging the public to only make contact with people they meet online at a populated, public location, such as a restaurant. They're also advising individuals to bring another person with them to any in-person meeting.
