Flu still widespread in Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The flu is still widespread across Iowa.

The state Department of Public Health says activity is still elevated, with 86 new cases confirmed by the State Hygienic Lab. Ninety-six people were hospitalized.

The department says six more people have died from complications of the flu.

So far this season, IDPH says the flu has killed 36 people in Iowa--including one child.

Public Health says Influenza A is the most widespread strain of the flu in Iowa, with cases of Influenza B also on the rise.
