University of Iowa Cancelling Study Trips to South Korea

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The University of Iowa has canceled a study program in South Korea over concerns with the coronavirus outbreak.

The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports an advisory from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control to avoid “nonessential travel” to South Korea brought the cancellation

South Korea now has the largest coronavirus outbreak outside China.

The university had previously said it was canceling spring and summer study programs in China.

The Press-Citizen also reports the University of Northern Iowa is monitoring coronavirus and providing updates to its students living overseas, particularly in South Korea and Italy. Italy has also experienced a coronavirus outbreak.
