A retired Council Bluffs Police Officer avoids jail time after pleading guilty to and hit and run crash that killed a bicyclist.
The Pottawattamie County judge sentenced Bob Christensen to two years of supervised probation on Monday. 54 year old William Shepard was struck and killed riding his bike last May.
Investigators say Christensen left the scene but came forward later and said he was in the area and remembered hitting something.
His trial was scheduled to start Tuesday.
