Iowa Woman Accused Of Throwing Baby Claims Miranda Rights Weren't Read

A Sioux City woman accused of throwing her newborn baby into a crib to stop him from crying wants a judge to suppress evidence against her in the case.

32 year-old Megan James has pleaded not guilty to child endangerment charges. KTIV-TV 4 reports James claims she was not read her Miranda Rights when she was questioned by authorities last November.

Court documents say James told police she became frustrated while trying to breastfeed her two-day-old son, saying she had a migraine and wanted him to stop crying.

KTIV reports those court documents indicate James admitted to the police she threw her son at the crib. The child hit his head on it and fell onto the hospital room floor resulting in a skull fracture.

He was taken to Children's Hospital in Omaha for his injuries.
