Hy-Vee Transitioning Some In-store Restaurants to Wahlburgers

DES MOINES, Iowa - Hy-Vee will be home to Wahlburgers in five metro Des Moines locations, as well as 21 of its stores across the Midwest.

The Hy-Vee Market Grille restaurants are being replaced with the restaurant owned by actor Mark Wahlberg and his brothers Donnie and Paul.

Hy-Vee says Market Grille restaurants will stay open through the transition but serve a limited menu. They'll continue to have full-service bars when they become Wahlburgers. Existing Market Grille Express locations inside Hy-Vee stores will continue to operate under the same name without interruption.

The Hy-Vee stores in metro Des Moines that'll transition their Market Grill Resaurant's to Wahlburgers include: Prairie Trail Hy-Vee (Ankeny); Fourth and Court Hy-Vee (downtown Des Moines); Urbandale Hy-Vee; Waukee Hy-Vee; Mills Civic Hy-Vee (West Des Moines, Iowa).

Hy-Vee also owns six free standing Wahlburgers locations across the Midwest, including one in West Des Moines.

HyVee says the Wahlburgers move is part of a plan announced last month that also reduces hours for stores around the metro.

Most Hy-Vee's are no longer open 24 hours. The West Des Moines based company says the change allows it to move employees to hours when more people are shopping at the stores. As a result, mant Hy-Vee's are now open 6 a.m.-11 p.m.

In another restructuring move, Hy-Vee is lating off 368 employees at its Urbandale fulfillment Center.

The center is closing May 6th, and fulfillment operations will move to Hy-Vee grocery stores.
