DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Board of Regents has cited the COVID-19 virus as a reason for asking the three state universities to move as quickly as possible towards providing online classes.
In a press release, the board said, "It is important for students, faculty and staff to prepare for this eventuality this week prior to spring break."
Specific information will be provided to each university by 8 a.m. Thursday.

The board also said it's international travel ban is being extended by seven days every Monday, effective this week. It said that providing a continuous 30-day window will allow for proper planning by faculty, staff and students until conditions improve.
The board is leaving university-sponsored domestic travel up to the each university. It said it will continue to evaluate conditions daily and its current recommendation is to avoid areas with high numbers of identified cases of COVID-19.
