WEBSTER CITY, Iowa - A suspect was shot and killed during a hostage situation in Webster City.
The Iowa Department of Public Safety says police were called to a home on Apple Street Monday afternoon where a man had shot at a woman.
An hours-long standoff included a tactical team and crisis negotiators. When the man threatened to shoot the woman in a specified time-period, the tactical team entered the home and shot and killed him.
Three state troopers on the Tactical Team are now on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
The names of the people involved will be released after relatives are notified.
The case will be turned over to the Hamilton County Attorney once an investigation is completed. DPS says there is no further threat to the public.
