An eight year old Council Bluffs boy is dead after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday night.
Council Bluffs Police say the child was walking near Carson and Franklin Avenues around 6:30 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle. He later died at the hospital.
Police say the 36 year old driver left the scene, but he and his vehicle were found a short distance from the scene.
He was was later released from custody pending further investigation. Charges are pending.
